I've got a new number using Google Voice now... you are still as unlikely as ever to reach me, but over time I'll stop answering most calls that go direct to my current number or outright change my current cell to an unknown number.
Anyhow, my new number is... tada!
02 July 2009 Update : More serious thoughts about DCIPS can be found here
Suicide is no joking matter, however, even one who has been scared by people that I care about, I can't help but ponder if suicide would really be more or less painful than the DCIPS training class.
Of course I jest, but sometimes these classes just confound me. Here I am, a temp student who is going back before they even implement the system and yet I still am required to take the class.
In fact our instructor is quite good, and if I cared at all about the subject mater I would be very glad to have him as a teacher. Although he does look a lot like Murry from "Flight of the Conchords" he isn't anywhere near as crazy, but still quite entertaining.
Anyhow, I hate this class because it is a complete waste of time. Good thing they don't pay me much or else the government would be wasting a lot of money.
Anything else? Yep. I got an awesome book of Richard Feynman, however it's in German so that's not as awesome, lol. Guess I have to learn German now!
Twilight would have been a much better movie if it went like this.
Try the following on the Mac OS X 10.6 Build 10A380...
$grep -ri zfs /etc/authorization
<key>com.apple.ZFSManager.</key>
<string>Used by zfsmanager to allow access to destructive zfs functions</string>
Let's hope this is going to still happen.
[update 1 Sept 2009 - Not happening, at least not in 10.6. Maybe in 10.6.x but that's a long shot, till then it's just hacks and such like this]
Except you don't win anything...

How about...
"When will that fool be quiet?"
"It's amazing how we can fit his whole foot in that mouth of his."
"Aww, he's so cute."
"Joe has such soft lips... could I? Maybe? What if he doesn't feel the same?"
"I'm too sexy for my shirt..."
Sorry, that last one is just me thinking out loud.

Seriously, the best that IE8 can do on the acid3 test is, well, that. The numbers are worthless due to the ammount of disabling that is done, surely there is a better way to "protect our most vital secrets", such as the countless orginazation wide emails warning about the this scam.
However, no. It seems that current policy is to make the machine as much of a pain to use as they possibly can, all so that they can say "we are secure".
Sadly, it's pathetic "security measures" like auto-resetting the selected theme back to "Windows Clasic" and every morning I have to change it back to "Windows Vista Basic". Ignore the cheapness of not even being able to run Aero, just the idea that somehow "the theme service might be a vector for attack" is complete crap.
If you can't trust your network monitoring, border firewalls, anti-virus and "mandatory tranining" to prevent security issues, why the hell do you think that changing the theme will make any damn difference. Does windows have to look like crap before it's deemed "secure"?
Maybe for "simple" users, like budget, personal, and other clerical type employees this makes perfect sence, but you are really going to drive away people who are good at what they do, who love this country and would never allow any harm to come to it, the asinine policies that lock down our machines will drive us to other places.
If I want to look at a sourceforge project there is no excuse for me seeing this instead of sourceforge.

Although I currently am "just a student in college", I've been working since I was 16 and active in computers, network administration, and programming since at least 12 so I'm not your average user. Your average user might be fine with these restrictions, but if I'm not being asked to work on something else and I want to learn Assembly, the last thing that I'm going to be ok with is being told I can visit the site for an Assembly compilier because it might be freeware/shareware when in fact it's fricken open source!
I know that these conditions are driving me crazy right now, so there is no way that I could work at such places long term... and that's sad, because places like this need people exactly like myself, but they are going to lose me and other like me because of stupid-ass policies like just the few I've mentioned so far.
Don't even get me started on the countless hours of "required" training... I've never had so much time be wasted.
Ignore the rather odd dream I had last night and almost being able to feel how the flesh around the gunshot wound would move with each breath.
Or maybe, don't ignore it... it's probably better to find some way to deal with it in a dream first than in real life.
What made me think of all this? I watched "Yes Man" last night. And it's really scary so see what I might end up being like and all that I could be missing out on if I always turn down everything.
Those who know me know that I never used to be a very crazy kind of guy, however, I'd like to think that is changing. Heck, I've even helped prank page someone at Hastings, lol. Sure it's my geeky knowledge that was needed, but the point is, I did something spontaneous. It's not like I'm going to now live a life of crime, lol, but years ago I'm pretty sure I would have thought it as a sort of "gateway crime" lol.
So... although I do hope to not experience gunshot wounds, or see them at all really, I can't help but find it funny that I see what could have been my life in a movie.
I'm mostly glad I started being crazy before seeing the movie, cause if the movie made me change, well that'd just be sad!
ps. It's really freaky to see blood be pushed out of a gunshot wound in the same rhythm as the persons heartbeat.
